What yt-dlp supports — and how PasteGrab uses it
PasteGrab is yt-dlp with a paste-preview-download UI
When you paste a URL into PasteGrab, our workers call yt-dlp to resolve the page, list streams, and prepare your chosen format. That means host support tracks the yt-dlp extractor ecosystem — not a hand-maintained list of scrapers.
We expose dedicated SEO pages for high-traffic hosts (TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Twitch, and more) while still accepting many other public URLs on the homepage downloader.
Public links are the real filter
yt-dlp can only fetch what a normal browser session could access on the public page. Login walls, DRM, private accounts, and paywalled VODs are out of scope — regardless of whether an extractor exists upstream.
Test in incognito: if the media does not play logged out, PasteGrab cannot ethically save it.
How to find a platform page
Browse the platform directory on our homepage or open /download/{platform} for hosts we document with FAQs and format guidance.
For format and policy questions, see /docs/supported-formats and /legal/acceptable-use.
When preview fails
Extractors break when sites change markup. yt-dlp community updates flow into our worker images over time.
If a URL used to work, try a fresh share link, confirm the post is still public, and retry later after extractor updates.
