Privacy Policy
How PasteGrab collects, uses, and protects information when you use our link-based downloader. Effective 2026-06-22.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how [YOUR_COMPANY_OR_OPERATOR_NAME]("PasteGrab," "we," "us") processes information when you visit pastegrab.com or use our download tools. By using the service, you acknowledge this policy alongside our Terms of Service.
Data controller: [YOUR_COMPANY_OR_OPERATOR_NAME], [YOUR_REGISTERED_ADDRESS]. Privacy inquiries: privacy@pastegrab.com.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use PasteGrab, we may process:
- URLs you submit — public video or audio page addresses you paste for preview or download.
- Job metadata — format choices, job status, progress, output filenames, and file sizes while a download runs.
- Account data — if you sign in, your email address and session identifiers linked to optional features such as download history.
- Technical logs — IP address, user agent, timestamps, and error records generated by our servers for security and reliability.
- Compliance records — when restricted or policy-violating URLs are submitted, we may log the attempt to enforce acceptable use.
- Cookie and consent data — your cookie banner choice and necessary session cookies described in our Cookie Policy.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the downloader — resolve URLs, queue jobs, and deliver output files.
- Maintain security — detect abuse, enforce rate limits, and investigate policy violations.
- Operate accounts — authenticate signed-in users and show job history where enabled.
- Improve the product — diagnose failures and understand which hosts need better guidance.
- Comply with law — respond to lawful requests and protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract — processing URLs and job data necessary to perform the download service you request.
- Legitimate interests — security logging, abuse prevention, and service improvement, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — optional analytics cookies when you choose Accept all in the cookie banner.
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and consent storage. Optional analytics load only after you consent. Functional browser storage (session cache, theme preference) supports core UX. Details, cookie names, and retention periods are listed in the Cookie Policy.
Analytics
When configured, PasteGrab may use Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode v2. Analytics scripts load only if NEXT_PUBLIC_GA_MEASUREMENT_ID is set in our deployment and you choose Accept all in the cookie banner. If you choose Necessary only, analytics storage remains denied. You can change your choice anytime via cookie settings in the footer.
Retention
- Session cookie (
pastegrab_session) — up to seven days of inactivity, or until you sign out. - Consent records — up to twelve months, or until you clear site data.
- Job outputs and records — deleted on a rolling basis; on staging environments completed jobs and files may be removed after approximately seven days. See limits documentation.
- Server logs — retained for a limited period for security, then aggregated or deleted.
Sharing and processors
We use infrastructure providers (cloud hosting, networking) to run PasteGrab. They process data on our instructions to deliver the service. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users and the public, or in connection with a merger or acquisition with notice where legally permitted.
Security
PasteGrab is served over HTTPS. Session tokens are stored in HttpOnly cookies where applicable. We apply rate limits and compliance controls on URL submission. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; use strong unique passwords if you enable an account.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email privacy@pastegrab.com with enough detail for us to verify your request. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children
PasteGrab is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data.
International transfers
PasteGrab may process data in countries other than where you live. When we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required by law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we publish material updates. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
